The Boston Celtics are expected to get guard Marquis Daniels after he completes a contract with the Indiana Pacers.
His move to Boston will be a part of a sign-and-trade, a deal made quite regularly in the NBA. It gives the team getting the player the assurance that a contract is already in place and doesn’t need to be worked out.
Daniels scored a career-high 13.6 points per game last season for Indiana, but his veteran presence is not really needed on the rebuilding team.
However, that presence will certainly be welcome for a Celtics team that is looking to get back to the NBA Finals after a disappointing end to 2008.

Authorities have arrested former Boston Celtics star Antoine Walker for failing to repay his gambling debt.
Walker has already written several bad checks to attempt to cover his losses, which is currently at $822,500.
He has a September 16 hearing scheduled but prosecutors are hoping to come to some agreement with Walker before that time.
He has not played in the NBA since last December when his contract was bought out by the Memphis Grizzlies.

Former Boston Celtics star Antoine Walker is facing an arrest warrant for more than $82,500 in gambling debt.
The forward has been accused of writing three bad checks to try and cover his gambling debt.
Prosecutors say that Walker has failed to make good in more than $1 million of gambling debt at casinos in Las Vegas.
The former All-Star has repaid $178,000 worth of debts that he piled up from last July to January.

The Boston Celtics have made their big offseason move, signing veteran forward Rasheed Wallace to a contract.
Wallace was set to meet with the Orlando Magic, San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks but has cancelled those meetings.
The Celtics were looking to make a big splash after watching the Cleveland Cavaliers and Magic acquire superstars.
Wallace will also give the team some added insurance in case Kevin Garnett struggles in his return from knee surgery.

Despite persistent rumors to the contrary, the Boston Celtics say they have no interest in dealing point guard Rajon Rondo.
It’s puzzling to me how a rumor like this would even start given that Rondo is arguably the best player on that team now.
He has really grown into the point guard role and is now both a tremendous ball-handler and leader.
Apparently Rondo has been late to some team meetings and functions, which has drawn the ire of the head coach and general manager.
