Celtics advance to second round

The Boston Celtics made quick work of the Miami Heat to advance to the second round of the NBA playoffs.

Boston managed to rally back to win Game 1 and then take the second game despite the suspension of Kevin Garnett.

The Celtics did drop Game 4 in Miami, as Dwayne Wade simply wouldn’t allow himself to be embarassed by a sweep.

Things get infinitely more tougher for the Celtics from here on out with a showdown upcoming with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

These two teams have had their share of past playoff battles, and it should be the best second round series.

Garnett suspended for Game 2

The NBA has suspended Boston Celtics forward Kevin Garnett for Game 2 against the Miami Heat.

Garnett elbowed Quentin Richardson in a fracas that broke out near the end of Game 1.

Paul Pierce fell to the floor and was down near the Miami bench when Richardson went over to inbound the ball.

Garnett was angry that Richardson wasn’t giving any respect to an injured player and got in his face about it.

The situation clearly escalated, and Garnett threw an elbow as he was trying to get players off of him.

Rivers may leave Celtics

Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers said this may be his final year with the team.

Rivers said he re-evaluates his situation each summer because he feels the pull from his family to halt his coaching career.

He has one son who is a senior playing for Indiana and another that is considered a highly-ranked recruit.

It also helps that the Celtics appear to be in decline and ready to break up their trio of stars.

That could mean a rebuilding phase in Boston, something Rivers may not really want to be a part of.
